Hi, I’m Michael… and if you love history, we’re probably going to get along just fine.
As a Travel Advisor at the Blue Ridge Plateau Regional Visitor Center, I enjoy helping visitors discover the stories, places, and experiences that make the Heart of the Blue Ridge such a special place to explore. While I live just across the state line in North Carolina, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for this region and love sharing its hidden gems with travelers from near and far.

About Me
I’ve always been fascinated by history, culture, and the stories that connect us to a place. When I’m not at the visitor center, you’ll often find me RV camping with my family at Lake Ridge RV Resort & Campground, one of our favorite places to relax and enjoy the outdoors.
I enjoy exploring small towns, visiting historic sites, and discovering the unique character that makes each community special. The Heart of the Blue Ridge has no shortage of stories to tell, and I love learning something new every time I venture out.
What I bring to the Mountains...
History is where I feel most at home. I’m especially passionate about Virginia, Colonial Williamsburg, and the people, places, and events that helped shape our nation.
Before joining the tourism team, I worked at Old Salem Museums & Gardens in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where I helped bring history to life for visitors through interpretation and storytelling.
Today, I enjoy helping travelers connect with the rich heritage of our region, whether they’re searching for a historic landmark, a scenic backroad, or a story they won’t find in a guidebook.
