SUMMARY:Community First Response
DESCRIPTION:Help Us Make the First Few Minutes CountEmergencies don’t always happen when a professional is nearby. Sometimes, the first person who can make a difference is simply the person standing next to you.The GOODS: Co-Op & Shop is bringing our community together for a free, hands-on learning event focused on practical emergency response skills that can help you feel more prepared to act when it matters most. This event is about building life-saving confidence, learning practical skills, and knowing what to do in those critical first few minutes while help is on the way.Participants will have the opportunity to learn and practice skills such as:Basic first aid and emergency responseCPR and AED awarenessRecognizing and responding to common emergenciesBleeding controlWhat to do while waiting for professional helpPractical skills for homes, businesses, families, and everyday situationsWe also want to bring local businesses, organizations, first responders, and community members together to build a stronger culture of preparedness throughout our community.WHY WE’RE DOING THISPart of The GOODS’ mission is helping our community become more connected, capable, and resilient. We believe that learning how to respond in an emergency is another part of taking care of one another. We’re working to make this a FREE community event, supported through local donations and community partners, so cost isn’t a barrier to learning skills that could one day help save a life. We’ll also have healthy food options available, because building a resilient community includes reconnecting with healthy, whole foods and taking care of ourselves before an emergency ever happens.Come learn. Come practice. Come prepared.Because when something happens, those first few minutes count.
